About

I call Richmond, Virginia, USA home. I currently work for a Richmond based Fortune 500 company. At home, I enjoy spending time with the wife and kid (had to say that… wife sometimes checks out my web site :-) ), taking photos, playing soccer, writing code for fun or to help non-profits, and reading up on mostly programming and technology related topics.

In the old days, long long ago before the kid arrived, I used to have time for music with my band, and PC games. Once in a while I even composed and arranged a song or two.

I am one of the moderators for the Korg 01W Discussion Group.

Thanks for writing the article on Visual Studio productivity. There are probably ways that this article could be extended. I found the visual studio power tools enhancement to be helpful. I am a C++ developer, so there are numerous enhancements that I would like to see, but I don’t count on Microsoft to provide them — they seem like a pretty disorganized company lately.

One would be a find in files that works like Google Suggest with enhancements to dynamically display context for the search target wherever it’s found. I guess this would rely on programmatic connection to Google Deskop Search or Microsoft Desktop Search. Since so many developers are limited to Visual Studio 6, it would be great to make such a tool work for them via automation.

Something else worth mentioning perhaps is download of the Consola font.

Another nice thing would be integration of Winmerge with Visual Studio and/or Source Safe.

    Nice blog.

I’m not sure if it’s available on a mobile browser yet, but check out http://www.google.com/transit. I just got back from Honolulu last night, and found about it here: http://www.thebus.org/updates/Next_Bus_Information_Instruction.pdf
Unfortunately, I found out all about it on the last night of my vacation when all the traveling was done. :( But google transit looks promising. It’s much better than theBus website. That’s for sure!

    Hi
I am .NET Developer and have a problem in implementing the updated status (i.e similar to progress indicator) for my application.
We are using three tier architecture.
I am trying to execute 2 task at the same time.I am executing a Batch which will updated several tables and writes the result in a text file.
The text file is written only after full process is completed. Before that i have the rows in datatable.
Whenever a row is updated in Datatable i need to display that row in the presentation layer. This is my requirement.
And the batch will be executing till it completes updating all the required tables.
So i need to execute the Batch simultaniously and display the rows one after another in a text area which is present in the presentation Layer.
Currently i am using Asynchrounous Delegates to call a function which holds the final Datatable but the problem is i am able to get the result displayed in the presentation Layer after the whole process is completed.
Please suggest me some effecient way to achieve this functionality.
Your response is appreciated and really valuable.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Regards
    Bose
